I found Lou's book easy to read and to follow. I enjoyed her writing style which made me feel as if she was talking to me. Like a conversation.I have two sister-in-laws (not related to each other) who were raped/sexually assaulted by their own fathers. The one sister-in-law was my former husband's sister. I spent a lot of "alone time" with her, and she never told me what her father was doing to her. He even assaulted her friends, her brothers, their sleep over friends, and one grandson that I know of. He was an awful person! My other sister-in-law talks about her father searching her or her others sisters out in the middle of the night. Again, just awful!!!!
Lou gave me the "inside look" on how a child feels about a parent sexually assaulting them. I never knew until now. Lou did an awesome job speaking in the past and present. I could easily follow her story.
I think Lou is a very strong and brave women who's able to tell her whole story, "putting it out there" for anyone to read, including her family. Yikes! She did a good job!!
For the mom's out there, you need to read Lou's book. Hopefully, you will learn clues to make you better prepared in protecting your child from a step-dad, uncle, friend, cousin, who knows. Lou opens up and tells it all.

What I liked about reading this book was how real and raw it was. It tells in detail about what abuse is like to a child, the innocence and confusion it causes but it also tells of hope.
I liked how down to earth the author is while telling you her story. It's a reminder that not everyone knows abuse is abuse and assures the abused that they are not alone and they can seek help and turn their life around.
It was a very informative book of the tribulations she when through stating at a very young age continuing into her adulthood. It made me very sad reading her story of what she had gone through. I know the author personally & never knew she had gone through this abuse! It was written really well, written as if I was reading someone's diary. I can tell reading this book she was & is a very strong person. To write this story & to share it with others is a very strong person & I truly think if others read it, it would help many others that have been or are being abused.

I am proud of you. Im glad I had the chance to talk to you and I say this, "You would be an amazing advocate and voice for the ones that so badly need someone in their corner". It was hard to read the beginning, knowing it was a reality that you and so many other children have gone through this and that so many are still going through something like this. Breaks my heart. So many need to read this. Sometimes it can take us years to admit and seek out help, or many times leaving and going back because of fear and insecurity. So many think abuse is physical only"well he doesnt hit me".. Verbal scars are sometimes worse and live with us forever, something we have to fight, even after we leave. Thank you for sharing your life and showing us the amazing woman you are.
Let me start off with...I know the author. As I began reading her life, it brought up many memories. Her book can be hard to follow at times but I once I allowed myself to put myself in her shoes and head, it became easier to read. I know my friend, she doesn't want anyone to feel sorry for her, but wants people that are going throught the same thing to know they are not alone. She offers you courage to keep going. All great things come to those that wait and prevail.
